About body weight in guitar building - Is it just a trend?
In the workshop, each piece of wood is carefully selected for its stability, resonance, and tonal quality. While weight is an important factor, it is neither the only nor the main criterion when evaluating tonewoods.
The density of the wood directly influences the instrument’s tonal character: lighter woods may provide openness and quick response, while denser ones offer depth, definition, and sustain. Each has its own purpose and unique voice.
For this reason, we do not seek “ultra-light” blanks, but rather well-balanced woods that have been naturally air-dried and offer reliable acoustic behavior. The priority is always to craft instruments with character, precision, and long-lasting quality — far beyond a simple number on the scale.
